BIO: Patricia Barrow

Patricia Barrow has been a successful painter for over 25 years, first as a photographer and
then as a painter. She studied art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, under various artists
at the Torpedo factory in Alexandria VA, the University of Miami, and in Provence, France.
Today she paints full time in Coconut Grove, Florida.

In her current work Florida and the sea have a big influence on Patricia's impressionistic
style and interpretations of every scenes.

The artist says that she was influenced mostly by the impressionists. "I love working with heavy paint.
It gets me into the painting. I would love to always paint from real life, but it's not always possible.
I am a photographer and love black and white photography the best. I like to paint from black and
white photographs they free me to use whatever colors I want, I can use my imagination."

Her favorite painters are Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Diebenkorn, and David Hockney.

Her paintings are most often interpretations of locales she regularly visits in Martha's Vinyard, Provence
and South Florida.
